Medication Sector in Qatar: Hand in Hand Facing the Blockade

We would like to welcome you to our conference entitled: “Medication Sector in Qatar: Hand in Hand Facing the Blockade”         

The aim of this conference is to address the effect of the current blockade on the medication sector in the State of Qatar.

The conference will be a venue for discussions among key stakeholders from the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Qatar Pharmaceutical Industry and Qatar University to address initiatives and strategies that are currently underway facing the blockade. The conference will achieve its aim by thoroughly addressing the following three key themes in the form of lectures, panel discussions, and a workshop:

  1. Medication Management and Accessibility to Medication in Qatar

  2. Building Pharmaceutical Industry and Innovation in Qatar

  3. Building Human Capacity in Qatar

Our mandate is to create opportunities for the participants to:

  • Discuss the impact of the blockade on the right to health under the international law;

  • Understand the process of ensuring access to medicine in Qatar pre- and post-blockade;

  • Identify means to suggest therapeutic alternatives for unavailable/and or available medications;

  • Identify initiatives to improve access to generic medications;

  • Explore issues facing pharmaceutical industry in Qatar;

  • Understand the preparedness plan for a sustainable and resilient medication supply in Qatar;

  • Explore Qatar's current emergency preparedness plan and risk management for health including human resources and medication supply;

  • Describe curriculum development plans for capacity building at Qatar University College of Pharmacy, and the persistent demand for certified continuous professional development programs;

 

The first day of the conference is going to be at Intercontinental, Doha and the second day of the conference is going to be at Ibn Khaldoon Hall, Qatar University.
