    The Scholarships and International Admissions Section Policies

    Part 1:

    Rules and regulations for the students who obtain a student visa under Qatar University residency sponsorship and having a scholarship:

    Tickets: The following rules are applied for the international students who have a scholarship with a student visa and are eligible for an annual airline ticket.

    1. The section would issue a one-way ticket for the student who get admission and willing to enroll the University.
    2. Issuing the return ticket to the student to travel to destination the student came from to QU in the first time. Changing destination requires approval of the Section.
    3. The section issue the ticket upon student’s confirmation. After receiving the ticket, student should bear all extra charges caused by any change in the ticket and not the university.
    4. The ticket is provided only when the student is willing to travel after final exams in every spring or summer semesters.
    5. Graduated student deserves only one-way ticket to the destination the student came from to the university in the first time, and 50 KG cargo letter. Both are provided only when the student cancel the residence permit and leave Qatar.
    6. Short scholarship student has to bear all expenses including the airline ticket when the student withdraw or leave the program in any time without any acceptable reason and without the approval of the center’s director.

    Residence and Exit Permits:

    1. The University has no objection to receive a student visa application only from newly admitted international student when the student complies with the requirements and the assigned timeline. However, QU would not receive student visa application from current student with a accumulative GPA of less than 2.5 or re-instated or re-enrolled or re-admission students.
    2. Student is obliged to abide to the regulations in the State of Qatar and the university; including, newly admitted student should not leave Qatar before completing the procedures of getting the residence permit.
    3. To be eligible to apply for services related to residence permit, apply to receive any official letter from the university, etc., the student is required to settle the entire outstanding fee.
    4. Female students traveling by road must submit written consent of her guardian enclosed with a copy of the guardian's ID card to the Scholarships and International Admissions Section.
    5. In the condition of termination under any reason (academic dismissal, final withdrawal, freeze enrollment, etc.) or the visiting student completed studying in QU, the student is required to settle the entire outstanding fee, complete the compulsory procedures and submit the original passport and ID card to the section. Consequently, the section would cancel the residence permit; and the student should leave the country within 5 days from the date of terminating the permit.
    6. The student is obliged to bear any penalty fee when withdraw during the semester.
    7. Graduated student is required to cancel the residence permit to leave Qatar within five days after getting the graduation certificate or attending the graduation ceremony.
    8. The student, who stays out of Qatar for more than six months, has to submit an official request clarifying the reason of the delay and his desire to return to the State of Qatar to the completion of the study. In case of approval on request, student will be responsible for all fees and fines that may have to complete this transaction.
    9. In all cases, the scholarship rules will be applicable for scholarship students.
    10. Student will be subject to the scholarships conditions when not fulfill scholarship regulations. When the scholarship get canceled because the student failed to achieve the conditions to continue as the beneficiary of this scholarship, student will be given a one-way ticket to leave Qatar within five days after canceling the resident permit.
    11. The student is responsible to contact the Scholarships and International Admissions Section and bring the original passport and ID card to renew the residence permit or to update the information at the Ministry of Interior systems when the student renews his passport. The student will be responsible for all consequences due to the delay in passport submission.
    12. The University has the right to claim all or part of any expenses due to student's failure to meet deadlines.
    13. Current student in the university may submit “transfer residence permit” application from the current sponsor to the university sponsorship due to any reason; for example, father leaves Qatar, in order to continue studying in the University and bear all expenses; student should satisfy the conditions and submit the documents that proof the reasons of the transfer application to the section.
    14. Upon completing the final exams immediately, graduated students should contact the section to settle the residence permit, either to cancel it or transfer it, with the importance of the availability of the required criteria. Leaving Qatar is prohibited before completing this process. This regulation is not valid for students in Arabic Program for Non-Native Speakers.

    Part 2:

    Rules and regulations for the fee-paying students who got a student visa under Qatar University residence sponsorship. The following are the conditions of continuing study in the University:

    1. Student should be committed to the State of Qatar and university’s rules and laws, in addition to pay the tuition fees and other financial charges on time.
    2. Student does not being dismissed from QU for academic or behavioral reasons.
    3. Student is obliged to reissue the cashed or expired bank guarantee and the financial documents every two years when submit the passport to renew the residence permit.
    4. International student who enroll the Foundation Program is required to complete the Foundation Program in 2 semesters. Otherwise, the student should withdraw from the university, cancel the residence permit and leave the State of Qatar.
    5. The laws of residence and exit permits for the students who are sponsored by the university and have a scholarship all are applied on the students who are sponsored by the university and haven't a scholarship. With a condition that the student should bear all the expenses for issuing entry visa, residence permit, health insurance (if available), and any other obligatory fees and expenses.
    6. The paying fee student who has a student visa under the University sponsorship can attain advantage of the scholarship system in case the student achieves the conditions and the rules of it, and according to the availability of scholarships. Student is eligible to apply for a scholarship when he fulfill the required conditions. Earning QU scholarship for international student who has a student visa under Qatar University sponsorship during studying at the University does not contradict with or cancel any of the commitments made by the student toward the University earlier. Student is eligible to apply for a scholarship when he fulfills the following conditions:
      • Must be enrolled in Qatar University as a full time student.
      • Must have completed the University Foundation Program.
      • Must have completed at least 30 credit hours in QU.
      • Must have minimum cumulative GPA 3.5 out of 4.
    7. Student who granted a scholarship should fulfill the following scholarship conditions:
      • Must finish 12 credit hours in each semester.
      • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.
