Why dentistry?
Dentistry offers many different opportunities, challenges, and rewards. The Doctor of Dental Medicine is a member of the primary healthcare profession on the front line of oral disease prevention, intervention and wellness promotion. It is a rapidly changing and expanding profession.
Dentists’ asses, diagnose and treat problems affecting the teeth, gingival tissue, tongue, lips and jaws. These oral diseases often reveal other underlying health issues that may require a follow-up with the patient’s general doctor.
Dentists also provide services that improve patients’ appearance, gives them a better smile and self-confidence through either:
Restoring, repairing and maintaining the dentition (teeth), gingival (gums) and oral tissues that have been lost or damaged by accidents or diseases, or/and
Cosmetic dental procedures
The work of a dentist extends beyond the dental chair. Patient education is as crucial as actual dental procedures because dentists promote good oral health and teach good oral habits. Their role entails interacting with people of all ages, cultures and personalities. The dentist’s typical day is diverse, challenging and interesting.
Specialized dentists are able to perform complex dental procedures, dental implants, trauma surgery, tissue grafts and laser surgery.

They are skilled, conscientious, civic-minded individuals who work alongside other health professionals, educators, community leaders and government officials. They often volunteer their services to school health programs, elderly, disabled or poor citizens, demonstrating all round professionalism.

Use the strong collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), to offer you early clinical experience in state-of-the-art facilities, including a dental simulation clinic and academic dental hospital at HMC.
Offer student-tailored Electives, community-based education, and research possibilities.
Be the 4th College under QU Health and provide substantial opportunities for inter-professional learning and exchange between different health professional programs.
Be routed within the national healthcare system to educate dentists who will be capable to address local challenges in oral health and to support the further development of the Qatari healthcare system.
