The College offers a Master of Science in Pharmacy (MSc (Pharm)) degree program starting in September 2011. The program was approved by the Qatar University Board of Regents in May 2010.
The MSc (Pharm) degree program is a two-year minimum 33 credit-hour post-baccalaureate thesis-based research-oriented graduate studies program designed to build on the undergraduate degree experience and further enhance critical thinking and research skills. The MSc (Pharm) degree program will also prepare students who wish to pursue a future Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree.
MSc (Pharm) Program Educational Objectives:
- Provide an opportunity for students to advance their knowledge, skills and attitudes in specific areas of interest within the pharmaceutical sciences and clinical pharmacy & practice
- Prepare students for research, teaching and specialty positions requiring personnel with a strong background in these speciality areas
- Develop students with the research skills needed to carry out basic and applied studies
MSc (Pharm) Program Learning Outcomes:
- Scholar: Graduates have and will apply the advanced Knowledge and critical thinking skills required to master, generate, interpret and disseminate pharmaceutical knowledge.
- Collaborator: Graduates will collaboratively with others within and external to the profession for the purpose of dissemination and extension of knowlwdge in the pharmaceutical sciences.
- Communicator: Graduates will communicate with diverse audiences in written and spoken English, using a variety of strategies that take into account the situation, intended outcomes of the communication and the target audience.
- Professional: Graduates will honour their roles as future phamaceutical sciences through the fulfillment of their obligations to the profession, the community and society at large in accordance with of the vision, mission and goals of the college of pharmacy.
- Ethical and Integrity: Graduates will conduct themselves in a manner that demonstrate an understanding and adherence to the principles of scholarly integrity and ethical research.
Graduate students specialize in one of the Pharmaceutical Sciences and Clinical Pharmacy & Practice research focus areas represented in our college including pharmacognosy, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutics, pharmacy practice, clinical pharmacy, social & administrative pharmacy & pharmacoeconomics. This list will expand in parallel with our faculty recruitment. The scope of the degree will include any aspect of the discovery, development, analysis and use of medicines to improve health care and related outcomes.
The application process is coordinated by university admissions and is made on an annual basis. The online application process for students admitted in Fall 2022 is now closed.
The admission process is competitive and the number of available seats is limited. All applicants are required to provide official Academic Transcripts, Proficiency in English, Reference Forms, Curriculum Vitae, and Residency related documentation. Final admission decisions will be made before June 2022. Provisional decisions are made as applications are received and reviewed by the Admissions Committee so applicants are encouraged to apply early.
