The sediment laboratory conducts particle size distribution analysis for sediments, soils and other particles of different materials using Laser diffraction method, ISO 133320:2009 (E). The Sedimentation Laboratory has been accredited for ISO/IEC 17025 by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).
The laboratory utilizes a Malvern Mastersizer 2000 and Mastersizer 3000 instrument and also has a Test Sieve Shaker to conduct particle size analysis by dry sieving.
Sediment sample preparation such as drying and grinding may also be processed at the laboratory prior to their chemical analysis. The laboratory uses Retsch Planetary Ball Mill PM 400 for sediment grinding.
