His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs began his career as an Economics Researcher at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in 2003. He assumed many positions the last of which is the Director of Economic Affairs during the period from 2005 - 2009.
In 2009, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affaires was appointed as the Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Support Project 'SMEs'. He was also appomnted as Director of the Government and Private Sector Partnership Department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce. In the same year, HE launched Qatar Enterprises, an organization that provides technical and financial support to SMEs. His policies have sought to foster economic diversification programs by attracting the Foreign Direct investment (FDI) to Qatar and promoting projects that contribute to the country's economic growth.
In 2010, HE was appointed as the Secretary of the Emir's Personal Representative for Follow-up Affairs at the Emiri Diwan. He also served as the Vice Chairman of Qatar Mining Company. In 2011, he became the Chairman of the Executive Committee of SMEs Development Company, and he was elected as the Chairman of Aspire-Katara Investment Company. He was promoted ase undersecretary in 2012.
In 2013, HE was appointed as Minster Assisstant for the International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His policies focused on promoting multifaceted cooperation, as well as the implementing of Qatar development and aid policy.
Currently, his excellency chairs the board of directors at Qatar Fund for Development, and in 2014, he led the restructuring procees for this body. As well he promoted for directing support for the primary and secondary education, global health and economic development. He is a member of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment.
