    Dr. Ibrahim

    Professor Ibrahim Alkaabi

    Dean of General Studies

    Prof. Alkaabi is a Full Professor of Social Work at the Department of Social Sciences, Social Work Program, at Qatar University. Prof. Alkaabi Completed his MA in Social Work at Washington University in the USA (1999) and his PhD at Leicester University in England (2004). His research interests focus on the areas of Family, Children and Social Policy. He has served as an expert in the General Authority for Minors Affairs. Prof. Alkaabi served on several academic and professional workshops and committees at the levels of Department, College, University and Governmental Bodies. Currently, Prof. Alkaabi is the Dean of General Studies.

    Dr. Saba Qadi

    Dr. Saba Qadi

    Dr. Saba Mansour Qadhi is an Assistant Professor of Educational Sciences and has 22 years of experience in Education. She joined Qatar University in 2009. Dr. Qadhi received her Ph.D. from University of Reading (UK) in 2018 and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Qatar University in 2009.

    She held several positions at Qatar University, including the coordinator of the secondary and primary education programs. She also held the position of Assistant Director of the Core Curriculum Program. Currently, Dr. Qadhi is the Director of Core Curriculum Program under the Deanship of General Studies.

    Her research expertise lies in the area of education and continuing professional development (CPD) for teachers and instructors in the Educational field. Dr. Saba supervises master's theses in the College of Education. She published two book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, Dr. Saba secured two research grants; an NPRP research grant and an internal grant from Qatar University QUCP.

    She has served on many key committees and task forces at different levels in the college, CCP Program, and the university that aiming to develop and improve the educational process.

    Dr. Hazem

    Dr. Hazem Al-Awah

    Director of Foundation Program


    Dr. Hezam Al-Awah has been the director of the Foundation Program (FP) at Qatar University since 2017. He is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of the strategic plan, as well as creating a positive work environment that guarantees fairness and equal opportunities for all faculty and staff. He works with the FP management team towards student success in developing their critical thinking skills, promoting independent and life-long learning capabilities, and equipping students with mathematical and English skills required by their academic majors. Dr. Hezam is interested in innovation in education and course development. His research interests include carbonate sequence stratigraphy, diagenesis, and their control on reservoir quality distribution. Dr. Hezam is also a board member of Qatar-Society of Petroleum Engineers.

    Dr. Walid

    Dr. Walid Massoud

    Director of Testing Center


    Dr. Walid Massoud is an experienced senior psychometrician (the science of testing), researcher, and evaluator. He has worked in corporate and academic settings for 20 years. His expertise is developing standardized exams, national assessments, item-banking, Item Response Theory, and large-scale research and evaluation studies. He taught psychometrics and educational evaluation in masters and Ph.D. programs. He has worked at the American University in Cairo and Umm Al-Qura University for the College of Education’s Evaluation Testing and Assessment Department. Also, he worked at the National Center of Examinations and Educational Evaluation in Egypt and as a consultant for many regional and international organizations (the European Union, USAID, UNESCO, and the World Bank). He has a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer in a number of scientific journals as well. He joined Qatar University in August 2015.

    Dr. Yousri Marzouki

    Dr. Yousri Marzouki received his Ph.D. in cognitive psychology in 2007 from the University of Provence in France. His experimental approach to studying the role of spatial attention in the identification of written words and letters allowed him to obtain the prestigious European grant for postdoctoral studies from the Fondation Fyssen to pursue his research at Tufts University in Boston. He returned in 2009 to Aix¬-Marseille University as an Associate Professor of cognitive psychology and statistical modeling applied to behavioral sciences. He is also a researcher in the French National Centre for Scientific Research affiliated unit Laboratoire de Psychologie Cognitive and a member of the research federation 3C (Behaviour ¬- Cognition ¬- Brain) of the French National Committee for Scientific Research. He was nominated as a permanent member of the prestigious Global Teacher Prize Academy in 2017. Yousri Marzouki is affiliated since 2015 with Qatar University and he is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences. He is currently researching the relationship between Attention, Emotion, and Consciousness. He has also supervised many training sessions on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Yousri Marzouki developed 2012 a leading model called “Virtual Collective Consciousness” which is considered a promising integrative framework to explain massive-scale online behaviors.
