Pre-requisites:Elementary Algebra or equivalent and Pass English Integrated English (Elementary) or equivalent
Textbook:Online - Algebra & Trigonometry, 9th Edition, Michael Sullivan, Pearson Prentice Hall.

    Course Description:

This pre-calculus course prepares students for Calculus. It covers functions and graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions. It also helps students to find values of basic trigonometric functions of any angle, use algebra to simplify trigonometric expressions, establish identities, introduce trigonometric identities.

    Course Objectives:

Throughout the term, students will demonstrate their understanding of Pre-Calculus using two approaches; geometric and algebraic. The main objectives of the course are introducing, identifying and working on:

    1. Various types of elementary functions.
    2. Logarithmic and exponential functions.
    3. Inverse functions.
    4. Trigonometric functions.
    5. Analytic Trigonometry.

    Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

    • Recognize the basic functions and their graphs.
    • Distinguish exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and their graphs.
    • Solve equations involving exponentials and logarithms.
    • Solve Trigonometric equations using trigonometric identities.
    • Find exact values of trigonometric functions using double-angle & half-angle formulas.
    • Solve equations involving expontial and logarithms.
