Diploma in Primary Education

The Diploma in Primary Education is one of the teacher preparation diploma programs in the College of Education at Qatar University.  The program  provides instruction and field based practicum for educators and other professionals committed to serving children in primary school. 

The goal of this program is to prepare educators to teach the curriculum necessary for governmental  schools in Qatar.  Accomplishment of this goal will require competent, motivated teachers who will prepare children to achieve educational goals at the highest international standards. 

This program consists of 30 credit hours taught in 2 semesters. Classes are field-based, with students observing and practicing skills learned in the program courses.  

The main instruction language is Arabic. 

NOTE: 

Only direct specialties of school subjects are accepted in Qatar's public schools (Islamic studies - Arabic language - Social studies - Science - mathematics - English subject)

To support the mission of Qatar University by preparing experts in the field of education who have the knowledge, skills, dispositions, and experiences to be successful secondary teachers. 

Mission

The Primary Education diploma Program aims to prepare high skilled, motivated teachers to teach in Qatar’s Independent Schools and who will prepare primary-level children to achieve educational goals at the highest international standards.

Objectives

This program seeks to support the vision of Qatar University by offering high quality, learning-centered education to candidates seeking teacher certification so that they may:

• Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed for successful teaching.
• Actively promote academic achievement for all students.
• Plan and conduct student-centered, standards-based instruction.
• Engage in ongoing research in education in Qatar by teaching and modeling inquires
• Engage in ongoing research in education in Qatar by using methodologies and data-informed instruction.

Program Plan

The Diploma in Primary Education is a two-semester program that consists of 30 credit hours (including internship course for field training practices). The language of teaching is Arabic.
