QU Summer Research Internship Program 2024

Qatar University Young Scientists Center (QUYSC) is excited to announce the launch of the Summer Research Internship Program 2024, designed to meet the educational excellence and graduate excellence goals set by Qatar University. The internship aims to enrich students’ research exposure, enhance analytical and technical skills, and cultivate a robust research culture. This internship targets undergraduate and graduate students, offering hands-on training in research methods, laboratory skills, and technique enrichment. The program offers three tracks (as detailed below) to foster students with enhanced research competencies and skills.

    1. Track 1: Outcomes-directed Research Track

This track is launched to engage students in acquiring knowledge in research methodology and culminating the project with tangible outcomes in the form of scholarly publications. This program invites STEM-integrated multidisciplinary proposals from research mentors willing to engage students with outcomes-directed research with targeted TRL/SRL measures. This track will witness the participation of mentors from all QU colleges and research centers. The students will initially undergo a minimum of 3 weeks* research experience comprising of a 1-week interactive research methodology session in parallel with hands-on experimental research, and a 2-week research training session to meet the outcomes requirement.

Benefits to Research Mentors (For eligibility, see application criteria)

      • Acknowledged for the multidisciplinary STEM integrated proposal concept
      • Honorarium for each LPI: TBA
      • Meet the KPI and appraisal needs

      Benefits to Students

      • Scholarly publications
      • Research career exploration
      • Professional development with scholarly outcomes
      • Understanding the significance of real-world research and analysis
      • Instilling confidence and competencies in research
      • Competitive advantage in the job market

    2. Track 2: Research and Training Track

This track will offer a minimum of 3-weeks* of hands-on research training sessions under the supervision of research mentors in specialized research areas.

    3. Track 3: Industry-based Track

This track will provide industry experience to students through renowned companies in Qatar in the areas of finance, management, science, medicine, education, arts, engineering, and technology. We look forward to enhancing student experiences by extending collaboration with government, semi-government, and private institutions/companies, which will be announced soon.
