​​The First Arab Universal Design for Learning Conference: Scientific Perspectives for the future of Inclusive Education in Arab Countries

Interdisciplinary vision for learning from Educational Sciences, social sciences, psychology, neuroscience, Disability Studies, Architectural Engineering, Assistive Technology and Digital accessibility.

The Inclusion and Special Needs Support Center - Qatar University, in partnership with 15 universities from Arab countries (American University of Beirut - Saint-Joseph University - University of Baghdad - Hashemite University - Tunis University - Kuwait University – Hebron University – Helwan University - Yarmouk University - Sultan Qaboos University - University of Ouargla - University College of Applied Sciences - Manouba University - University of Algiers 2 - Doha Institute for Graduate Studies), cordially invite you to participate in the First Arab Universal Design for Learning  (UDL) Conference, from Sunday 14 November to Wednesday 17 November 2021. The conference will discuss the scientific foundations of education in neurosciences, brain-based learning, architectural accessibility, digital accessibility, assistive technology, and practical applications of UDL that support inclusive education for all students, including students with disabilities.

The main objective of UDL is to remove the physical, digital, and educational barriers that hinder the learning process and to enable all students with different abilities to become “Expert Learners”. The conference will be held virtually, giving those interested throughout the Arab world the opportunity to explore the latest educational practices and scientific applications of UDL.

Conference Objectives:

  1. Shedding light on Arab experiences and exchanging experiences between Arab universities in the field of the inclusion of students with disabilities within the framework of the universal design for learning (UDL).
  2. Raising awareness on UDL guidelines as a scientific framework aimed at improving education in the Arab world.
  3. Raising awareness on the field of architectural accessibility, digital accessibility, and assistive technology.
  4. Raising awareness on the field of brain-based learning.
  5. Encouraging scientific research in the field of universal design for learning.
  6. Provide practical solutions for the development of UDL programs in the Arab world.
