    Civic Engagement Award

    The Civic Engagement Award is presented by the Core Curriculum Program (CCP) at Qatar University (QU). The award encourages the CCP undergraduate students to educate, engage and inform their fellow students about how they were civically engaged within the Qatari community whether on or outside QU campus.

    The award recognizes students who excel in their civic engagement initiatives and contributions to the community inside or outside QU. The awards aim to:

    • Develop student's sense of social responsibility Engage students with the Qatari community.
    • Encourage students to engage in addressing local and global community issues.
    • Appreciate and reward student’s exceptional efforts contributions to solving local community problems.

    Eligibility

    Students should have completed at least three courses in the Core Curriculum Program at Qatar University.

    The Award

    The designated CCP Student Award Committee will nominate one student entitled to receive the following:

    1. Certificate of Excellence
    2. Valuable prize

    • Deadline for submission to be announced later. 
    1. Students must be currently enrolled in any college at Qatar University at the undergraduate level. The project could be presented as an individual or group work.
    2. Student's work must demonstrate students’ achievement of one Program Learning Outcome (PLO) of the General Education Program. See student’s handbook.
    3. A reflection paper of how a specific general education course helped develop student's transferrable skills as needed by employers in the labor market (100 – 300 words essay).
    4. Deadline for submission: May 9, 2023 before 10:00am

    The applicant should submit the online application here.

    The nomination packet must include:

    1. No more than a two- page typed nomination letter for the candidate. This letter needs to include the following details:
      • Justification why you are nominated to this award including examples and stories of success and your achievements.
      • Examples of activities in which the nominee is engaged with the community
      • Reference to previous awards (if any)
    2. Submission of one of the following items:
      • An audio-recorded PowerPoint presentation about the civic engagement accomplishment.
      • A Poster highlighting the civic engagement accomplishment.
      • A Short video (2-5 minutes) summarizing the civic engagement accomplishment.
    3. Letter of Support from any QU instructor’s supporting nominee's application for the award.
