    About the Program

    The BSc. in Biological Sciences provides a broad overview of the structure, function and evolution of living systems, from the molecular up to the Biosphere level. The program offers extensive training and research opportunities in the main areas of biology including cellular, molecular, developmental, ecology, and evolution. It aims to prepare students for careers in education, research, and biology-related fields in order to meet the needs and aspiration of the Qatari society.

    Program Objectives

    The major in Biological Science aims to: Help Students develop an understanding of the various biology sub disciplines Provide students with intensive laboratory and field experiences. Carry out basic and applied research and prepares students for careers in teaching and research. Foster creativity and enhance students’ communication skills.

    Learning Outcomes

    Graduates of the Biological Sciences major ​will be able to:

    • Define structure and function of organisms.

    • Describe ecological systems.

    • Understand the nature and applications of molecular tools.

    • Engage in critical thinking through problem solving activities on a biological topic.

    • Demonstrate proficiency in writing skills by giving concise, clear and organized written communication about a biological concept.

    • Demonstrate proficiency in oral communication by giving concise, clear, and organized oral

    • presentations on a biological topics.

    Opportunities

    Graduates of the Biological Sciences program are prepared with the necessary capacity for a wide range of careers including biological research, teaching, clinical laboratories, and work with governmental and private sector companies.

    Admission Requirements

    Applicants must satisfy Qatar University’s defined College and Program requirements, including the minimum high school percentage requirement.
