The Department of Social Sciences offers three dynamic programs: Sociology, Social Work, and Psychology.
The Sociology Program focuses on a social and cultural approach to understanding human behavior and societal structures. Students explore topics such as social interactions, institutions, stratification, globalization, media, family dynamics, and environmental issues. This program emphasizes critical thinking and analytical skills to examine complex societal phenomena, preparing students for diverse careers in research, policy-making, and community development.
The Social Work Program prepares students for entry-level generalist social work practice. The program emphasizes a person-in-environment approach, equipping students with the skills to address the needs of individuals, families, and communities in various settings. Through hands-on experience and theoretical learning, students gain the knowledge required to advocate for social justice, support vulnerable populations, and promote positive social change.
The Psychology Program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of human behavior, cognition, and emotion. It prepares students for successful careers in teaching, research, and clinical services, as well as for further studies in graduate programs. Students are trained to apply psychological principles in various contexts, from mental health to organizational behavior, fostering skills that are essential for both professional and personal development.
The department offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Social Sciences, providing a solid foundation in theoretical and applied knowledge across all three disciplines.
