AlFaisal Without Borders Foundation (ALF) in cooperation with Qatar University's (QU) College of Education held a press conference in the QU campus to announce the launch of the 9th edition of the Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani Educational Research Award for the academic year 2024-2025.
The press conference was attended by Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Asma Al Attiyah, and Eng. Abdullatif Ali Al-Yafei, General Manager of ALF, along with a gathering of journalists and media representatives from various local media outlets.
This award is given annually to outstanding researchers from academic scholars, teachers, school principals, and professional practitioners in the Arab world. Its aim is to promote research, knowledge production, enhance educational practices, and develop educational policies.
Eng. Abdullatif Ali Al-Yafei, General Manager of ALF noted that in the 8th edition of the award in 2023, more than 300 researchers from various educational fields across different categories participated from all over the Arab world. This reflects the strong interest of Arab researchers in participating and demonstrates the significant progress the award has made over the years. He also noted that this year, ALF aims to further globalize the award and build international partnerships to enhance its impact.
Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Asma Abdullah Al Attiyah emphasized the significance of the ongoing partnership with ALF in supporting the journey of research excellence. She pointed out that the award has become a beacon for developing educational research and providing an opportunity for researchers from various Arab countries and experts to exchange experiences and distinguished research ideas, showcasing the best educational practices that contribute to advancing educational research. She expressed her gratitude to the ALF foundation for its unlimited support of the award since its inception in 2016.
In a statement, HE Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, expressed his pleasure at the launch of the 9th edition of the Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani Educational Research Award. He noted that through this award, ALF seeks to support educational research for students, researchers, academics, educational leaders, and teachers across various educational institutions in the Arab world, promoting a culture of educational research, development, and advancing teaching and learning practices to keep pace with the rapid changes in the educational field. He looked forward to greater participation from researchers in all categories of the award from across the Arab world.
QU President, Dr. Omar Al-Ansari, expressed his appreciation to ALF for its ongoing collaboration and support for the journey of research excellence, and congratulated HE Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, Founder and Chairman of the ALF Board of Trustees, on the launch of the award. He highlighted the importance of the award, which reflects Qatar's commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation to enhance the processes of teaching and learning.
Dr. Abdel Latif Sellami, Director of the Educational Research Center (ERC) at QU's College of Education, and a member of the award's executive committee expressed his pleasure at the center's role in organizing and coordinating the 9th edition of the award. The executive committee held its first meeting at the beginning of September 2024, where discussions included forming the executive committee, distributing roles related to the award, and setting timelines for receiving submissions and the award ceremony.
