The Core Curriculum Program (CCP), part of the Deanship of General Studies at Qatar University (QU), organized a webinar titled 'The Basics of Financial Management: Spend, Save and Invest Wisely,' attended by more than 150 students.
“The aim for this webinar is to equip students with the essential skills for managing their personal finances," said the webinar presenter Mr. Alaa AlShekly, Financial Consultant and Founder of the electronic platform 'Signature Jewelry Qatar'.
“We focus on training students on personal budgeting, financial planning, and fostering an understanding of the importance of saving and investing. This enables students to make sound financial decisions, especially given the rising issue of indebtedness in Qatari society," AlShekly said.
The webinar's moderator, QU Student Munira Al-Adhbi, emphasized the importance of the event for QU students and its role in enhancing financial awareness among youths.
The webinar is highly significant, given the prevalence of debt issues in Qatari society. QU aims, through such events, to raise students' awareness of financial challenges and empower them to better manage their personal finances, helping them avoid debt, and adding to financial stability in society.
The CCP aims to equip students with a range of attributes, knowledge, values, attitudes, and skills necessary for their academic and personal success, both during their undergraduate studies and beyond.
Additionally, the program seeks to instill the concept of civic engagement and social responsibility within the framework of Arab and Islamic values. It promotes awareness of diverse knowledge areas, empowering students to become responsible citizens and socially responsible leaders capable of civic engagement and understanding local and global changes in a world full of challenges.
