The Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) at Qatar University (QU) revealed its plan for this academic year concerning research projects, which included the completion of 15 diverse research projects to overcome contemporary challenges and respond to national needs.

These research projects target many economic and social topics that represent a contemporary challenge, and achieve the center's vision and objectives, which include building research capabilities and the ability to create an integrated research base for decision-makers in the country in line with the Qatar National Research Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030.

One project, ‘Open Government Data’ aims to support the State of Qatar through data that evaluates awareness level and surveying consumption indicators to monitor consumption and evaluate their impact on consumption behavior in Qatar.

The ‘Qatari Youth Survey (QYS)’ aims to understand the educational, professional, and social transitions in the lives of young Qataris aged 18-29 and the Qatar Semi-Annual Survey (QSAS) measures change in life aspects.

The list featured the social, economic, and environmental impact of camps in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and study of the population's stances towards the services in the world cup.

The calendar of the SESRI outlines several other research projects, including the survey of costs and productivity of the agricultural sector and livestock in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality, the Qatari Attitudes towards college education in cooperation with Waseda University in Japan.

The SESRI recently announced that it had established the urban development office in policy management that will undertake the function of conducting urban development research.

The institute also carried out several studies related to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament, including a two-stage survey on the perceptions and trends of citizens and residents before and after the tournament, in addition to surveying the perceptions and attitudes towards the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), including its role in organizing the tournament.

SESRI also adopted research projects pertaining to the workers' rights in collaboration with relevant entities in Qatar.
