The Research Planning and Development Department recently concluded an enlightening series comprising nine workshops and webinars dedicated to fortifying research excellence, integrity, and innovation within academia.
These sessions delved into crucial facets of current academic research under the direction of esteemed faculty members Prof. Aboubakr Abdullah, Manager of Research Excellence; Dr. Mohamed Emara, Section Head of Research Ethics and Integrity; Dr. Talal Al-Tahtamouni, Acting Manager of Innovation; and Prof. Abdelaziz Bouras, Manager of Pre-Award.
Prof. Aboubakr Abdullah spearheaded four sessions, including “Crafting Credibility: The Role of Integrity in Research Excellence,” “Strategy for Writing an Effective, Highly Cited Article,” “Strengthen Research using ChatGPT,” and “Research Data Management.” These sessions offered valuable insights into maintaining research integrity, impactful writing techniques, AI utilization in research, and efficient data management strategies.
Dr. Mohamed Emara's expertise shone in sessions such as “Everything about getting Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals” and “Everything about getting the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) Approvals.” These webinars provided essential guidance through the ethical and regulatory landscapes concerning human and animal subjects' research.
Dr. Talal Al-Tahtamouni's sessions, “Filing a Patent at QU: What You Need to Know” and “Patent from Idea to the Market-Inventor’s Role,” demystified the patenting process. His guidance equipped researchers to transform ideas into marketable innovations, emphasizing the pivotal role of inventors in this journey.
In his webinar titled “Things to Know Towards a Successful Research Grant Proposal,” Prof. Abdelaziz Bouras empowered researchers with essential tools and knowledge to develop compelling grant proposals—an imperative skill in securing funding and advancing research projects.
