    Projects

Qatar University Virtual Reality Section aim to promote the usage of Virtual Reality for teaching and research.

We have already established work groups on the current fields:

    College of Education

    • Training sessions for Teachers.
    • Teaching sessions (male and female).
    • Topic for this term is Solar System.

We are using Existing Model from EON and we developed two other models (sketchup model with arabic data and Unity3d

    College Of Engineering

Teaching Sessions with Dr. JohnJohn Cabibihan.

    • A conferance planned to be Robotic/VR related.
    • Senior projects students: using the system for Project review based on Solidworks application an TechViz.
    • For this term 2 senior engineering projects/groups are using the CAVE (Solidworks files + TechViz).

Teaching Session with Dr. Noora Fetais

As suggested by Dr. Noora we designed a MAZE 3d model for a specific teaching session. We was asked also to work in a proof of concept for the usage of VR with Big Data and we succeeded to turn immersive google earth for this purpose.

Teaching Sessions with Dr. Elsadig Mahdi Ahmed Saad

In collaboration with Dr. Elsadig, Mr. Rahib Ahmed Khan, Benurwar Jayant Narayan and Mrs. Farah Samih Al Khatib we are developing several 3d models on Solidworks to be used in Engineering VR teaching sessions.

    College Of Art and Science

Research project: Dr. Lina Mohammed Majed and Dr. Walid Briki

Green/Red/Grey color perception on body performance over timeWe developed three EON reality model (with animation) to meet with the needs of the research topic.Sessions will be scheduled in collaboration with Dr. Briki and Dr. Majed with the collaboration of their students. The Session will be recorded and several adjustment will be made on the fly.

This project will last 9 months and the results will be published in a professional publication

    ISAFA 2016 Conference

Project suggested by Dr. Dr Monèm Jemni We organized 4 workshops within the CAVE Lab:

    • CAVE: Virtual Reality tour on a 3d designed Stadium + an overview of the position of football player on the field
    • HMD 1: a first Head Mounted display linked to a 55inch screen allowing user to experience head ball shoot
    • HMD 2: a second Head Mounted display linked to a 55inch allowing the user to participate to a training to find a ball in a immersive football environment.
    • 3d projector linked to a hand tracking motion: allowing user to simulate a ball kick

The workshops allow users to explore what can be done with Virtual Reality on their field and speeded the idea to use this tools for teaching and for football strategy preparation.

    Social Science

    • Social science: developing 3d serious game with interactive avatar.
    • Projects suggested by Dr. Abdou Ndoye
    • The goal is to simulate “talking group” session with an interaction between virtual avatars and one master user on the CAVE.

    College Of Accreditation

The CAVE was a successful part of the accreditation of the CoE on the 10th of Nov.

    College Of Midicine

    • Medical Virtual Reality Session : for two faculty members of the college of medicine:
    • Dr. Ayad Moslih
    • Dr. Farhan Sachal Cyprian
    • For this session we made the following actions:
    • We customized a full 3d model of a Human body and displayed it in two ways
    • Real Time by using TechViz
    • With export and 3d customization on EON studio
    • We also negotiated a 3 months trial of specific 3d application used in several Polish University to train student on replacing Lab animal experimentation.

    Internal Projects

Internal projects 1 – To be showcased during Demos and Events

With our Parttime job student (Omar):

Modeling of the New Library Building Using

    • Sektchup 3d Software
    • Autocad
    • Display on realtime with TechViz

    Qatar University Stadium modeling

    College Of Architecture

displaying and working on students projects on the CAVE (3ds Max)

We are also working on new policy of usage for Biomechanics, college of education, etc.

Virtual Reality Middle East Conferance (VRMEC)

With the collaboration of majors universities in the region and worldwide Qatar University will host a conferance to promote the usage of VR.

Speakers will share their experience using VR, and workshops will help attendees to establish future collaboration.

More details will be revealed soon regarding this event.
