    Academic Planning and Quality Assurance Office

    Welcome to the Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (APQA) office website. Created in May 2009, the APQA office aims to lead and coordinate the university efforts in imitating new academic programs and concentrations, offering the continuous review and improvement of academic programs and to support and facilitate the Learning Outcomes assessment according to international standards and the State of Qatar’s needs. 

    The APQA office is considered one of the most important offices that monitors, facilitates, and coordinates the continuous improvement processes of the undergraduate academic programs offered at the university. It promotes support and sustains the Learning Outcomes assessment efforts within the university.

    The APQA office provides high-quality assurance services starting from academic planning, initiating new programs with the cooperation of Colleges, annual learning outcome assessment, academic programs review, and curriculum enhancement with efficiency and superlative performance.

    The APQA office, housed in the Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), works cooperatively with other colleges and university units to achieve QU vision, support the needs of the State of Qatar and its institutions with qualified graduate students to serve the community in labor market.

    The main objectives of the Academic Planning and Quality Assurance office are:

    Objective 1:

    To develop and support university-wide learning outcome assessment processes with build-in flexibility so that colleges and academic programs will be able to tailor these processes to serve their particular needs and requirements.

    Objective 2:

    To develop and support the implementation of policies and procedures related to academic programs.

    Objective 3:

    To produce academic programs related reports including assessment reports offering data analysis and information in order to support the decision making and planning.

    Objective 4:

    To promote a culture of assessment and continuous improvement by closely collaborating with other university offices, colleges, and academic programs and by identifying appropriate ways to engage the university community such as by organizing university-wide workshops and trainings.

    The main roles and responsibilities of the Office are to:

    1. Review and approve new academic program proposals in order to ensure the offering of high-quality programs that meet the University and the country’s needs.
    2. Develop academic program related policies and procedures and the accompanying templates, handbooks, and guides.
    3. Monitor, facilitate, and support the proper implementation of academic program-related policies and procedures.
    4. Develop and maintain university-wide learning outcome assessment processes and accompanying templates, handbooks, and guides.
    5. Lead and coordinate the university-wide efforts in the definition and assessment of the learning outcomes.
    6. Guide and assist colleges and academic programs in their continuous improvement process.
    7. Review and validate assessment plans and reports submitted by academic programs and provide feedback and recommendations.
    8. Collect, maintain, and organize data and documents regarding the assessment processes within the university.
    9. Compile and prepare a variety of reports and analysis in support of decision-making and planning.
    10. Prepare annual reports to the VPAA office.
    11. Liaise and work closely with other offices and established committees as needed.
    12. Promote and sustain the culture of assessment and continuous program improvement within the university to ensure academic excellence.
