    The 9th Annual Health Research Forum: Advancements in Health Research – Bridging Basic and Clinical Sciences is QU Health Sector annual event designed to foster collaboration, showcase cutting-edge basic, translational and clinical research, and highlight the impact of interdisciplinary teamwork in advancing health sciences.

    This two-day event provides an opportunity for faculty members, students from the QU Health Sector, and affiliated clinical colleagues to present their research findings, exchange knowledge, and engage in meaningful discussions through formal scientific presentations. The forum also strengthens collaboration with key healthcare and research institutions, including Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Sidra Medicine, and other stakeholders, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to addressing critical health challenges.

    Advancements in Health Research: Bridging Basic and CLinical Sciences

    This conference is designed to bring together healthcare professionals, educators, and researchers, to share knowledge and explore solutions to the most pressing healthcare challenges through collaborative research in areas of health professions education, mental health, precision medicine, drug design and delivery, metabolic and diabetes disorders and reproductive medicine.

    Specific Objectives:

    1. To discuss emerging technologies that improve HPE and strategies to streamline training for healthcare workflows using collaborative approaches.
    2.  To examine recent trends in personalized mental health interventions and strategies to integrate mental health support in chronic diseases care plans.
    3.  To discuss the advances in drug design and delivery and the use of AI-driven metabolomics in identifying biomarkers.
    4.  To describe the recent advancements in reproductive medicine and reproductive consequences of obesity in the population.
    5.  To discuss emerging application of genomics risk stratification and how pharmacogenetics optimizes patient-centered care.
    6.  To examine the advances in approaches to reduce the obesity rates at individual, national, and international levels.

    1st day: May 26th, 2025, I-11 Halls 1, 2 & 4

    • Keynote speech: Dr. Amal Al-Omari (Chief Scientific Officer, King Hussein Cancer Center), Jordan.
    • Keynote speech: Dr. Abdul Rauf (Director, Operations Clinical Trial Unit, Hamad Medical Corporation), Doha, Qatar.
    • Poster Exhibition and Evaluation. 
    • Dinner.

    2nd day: May 27th, 2025, I-11, Hall no. 4

    • Eight (8) Mic Drop graduate students oral presentations.
    • Six (6) presentations form selected Research Network Groups (Health Professions Education, Mental Health, the Drug Design, Development, and Delivery (3D), Reproductive Medicine, Precision Medicine, and Metabolic and Diabetes Disorder) from RNG leads and faculty members across QU Health colleges and BRC.
    • Panel discussion session.

    Prof. Jassim Al Suwaidi Chief of Scientific, Academic and Faculty Affairs-HMC

    Prof. Jassim Al Suwaidi is the Chief of Scientific, Academic and Faculty Affairs in HMC. He is an accomplished researcher having over 25 years of experience in research and clinical medicine.

    Prof. Jassim started his career in Hamad Medical Corporation in the year 1991 after graduating from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He rejoined HMC in 2000 after completing Post graduate training at Mayo Clinic, USA and becoming American Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology. He received Mayo Clinic Outstanding Achievement Award in Cardiovascular Research 2000 and since then actively involved in HMC’s academic strategies and developments as Chairman of Research Committee during the period 2001-2003 and Executive Director of Cardiovascular Research since 2013. He is the Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, Qatar since 2018, past president of Gulf heart Association and to date has more than 300 peer reviewed publications in addition to the book contribution, abstracts and research presentations in most of the international cardiology prestigious meetings.

    In addition to the position of Chief of Scientific, Academic and Faculty Affairs, Prof. Jassim is holding the position as Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist in Heart Hospital of HMC. Also mentoring students, residents and Fellows.

    Qatar Precision Health Institute (QPHI) is a national center for research and implementation under Qatar Foundation. 
    Its primary focus is to enhance precision healthcare quality and value through comprehensive study of genomics and multi-omics. 
    QPHI was conceptualized to leverage more than 10 years of valuable data collection, research, and ecosystem development accomplished by Qatar Biobank and Qatar Genome. The goal is to lead in preventing and curing health issues through personalized approaches, and consequently empower and enable precision health practices leading to healthy and vibrant communities.
