Abstract:

Gene editing is emerging as a vital tool in the quest to enhance food quality and tackle the challenges posed by climate change. By precisely modifying the genetic makeup of plants and animals, scientists can develop varieties and species that are more resilient to environmental stresses.

Furthermore, gene editing can reduce the reliance on chemical pesticides and fertilizers, promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Through these advancements, gene editing holds the promise of transforming our food systems, ensuring food security, and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change. At Merck we are happy to support researchers in the Middle East and all over the world with our gene editing tools and solutions and help them revolutionize agriculture.
