Al Bairaq program, an initiative of Qatar University, has achieved great success in the Reimagine Education Conference and Awards 2019, wining for the fourth year in a row, out of 1500 applications in 16 categories.
The program won gold award in the Natural Science discipline and silver award in Middle East region, this success is a testimony that Al-Bairaq has gained international recognition for its impact and achievements in the field of innovation in education. The win coincided with the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the program in 2010 at the University of Qatar.
Dr. Noora Al Thani, head of the Al-Bairaq program and head of the Communication and Outreach at Qatar University, expressed her happiness and pride in the successes Al-Bairaq has been achieving year after year. Stating that it is a great motivation for the program to take on more global challenges that increase its expertise in this field and increase its eagerness to keep pace with the newest educational methods. She also mentions, “Since its initiation in 2010, Al Bairaq has a very important social responsibility to raise Qatari youth and enable them to compete globally. Therefore, the programs offer specialized educational tracks, aiming to stimulate the curiosity of the students by providing an interactive learning environment that results in creations and scientific innovations.” She also emphasized on the program's commitment to achieving Qatar Vision 2030 in the areas of education, national community development, human development and strategic sustainability. Dr. Noora also thanked and appreciated the Ras Laffan Community Outreach Program, the sponsors of Al-Bairaq, as their support to education programs that are based on solving problems and projects related to life and employing creative methods in research, analysis, and investigation is the key to the country's development.
Reimagine Education is a global conference, competition and platform that brings together startups, academics from top universities, education innovators, university leaders, and those interested in the future of teaching and learning. It is an initiative from the Wharton University in Pennsylvania, which is one of the most prestigious universities in the United States and QS Quacquarelli Symonds, which is specialized in evaluating universities globally. It aims to recognize institutions and programs that seek to create educational initiatives and innovations that work to enhance the outcomes of students' learning and qualify them for the job market.
