    Readmission

    Readmission refers to the process by which applicants, who was previously admitted to Qatar University and who enrolled in at least one semester at the university, request reinstatement into Qatar University.

    Applicants who are eligible for readmission to Qatar University

    1. Withdrawal from University: Students granted approval to suspend enrollment and leave the University permanently.
    2. Long Absence: An undergraduate student with an unapproved absence from the University of more than four consecutive or nonconsecutive regular semesters, excluding students who were granted approval from the Vice President for Students Affairs.
    3. Foundation Program Suspension-Absence: applies to students who did not register in any Foundation courses for at least two semesters.
    4. Foundation Program Suspension-Academic: applies to students who were not able to fulfill the foundation program requirements within four regular semesters.
    5. Academic Suspension: Students registered at the University are assigned a status of “academic suspension” after two attempts to pass the courses that follow the programs offered in the yearly system or the courses offered as part of the common year courses.
    6. Academic Dismissal: Termination of the student’s University record due to unsatisfactory academic achievement or failure to meet graduation requirements in accordance with the regulating policies.

    Academic Status of re-admitted students

    Applicants who were placed under the following three status "Withdrawal from university, Long Absence, and Foundation Absence Suspension" may choose one of the following two options:

    Fresh record where courses and grades earned prior to the student’s readmission remains on record and are kept on the student’s QU transcript, but are not counted towards degree requirements and are not considered in the cumulative records of the student, including in the calculation of the student’s cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).

    Applicants may apply for transfer of credits of courses completed at or outside of QU (completed within the 5 years prior to the semester of readmission, a minimum grade of C, and a maximum of 50% of credit hours required to complete the degree)

    All QU courses completed within the 10 years prior to the semester of readmission, remain on the student’s records, are used in the calculation of the cumulative GPA, and are counted towards the degree, except for the courses approved for elimination from the student’s cumulative records or if the student requests to return with a fresh record.

    QU courses completed more than 10 years prior to the semester of readmission need approval from the academic program to be counted in student cumulative grade point average (GPA).

    May apply for transfer of credits for courses completed outside QU (completed within 5 years of the semester of readmission, a minimum grade of C, and a maximum of 50% of credit hours required to complete the degree).

    For applicants who were placed under the following status "Foundation Academic Suspension"

    Return with a fresh record where all courses and grades earned prior to the student’s readmission remain on the student’s QU transcript but are not counted towards degree requirements and are not considered in the cumulative records of students including in the calculation of the student cumulative grade point average (GPA) except for courses approved under the transfer of credit rules.

    Students may apply for transfer of credits for courses completed at or outside QU (completed within the 5 years prior to the semester of readmission, a minimum grade of C, and a maximum of 50% of credit hours required to complete the degree).

    May apply only to a program that does not require FP or else provide test scores that indicate the successful achievement of the required scores of the English language tests and the math tests for the desired program.

    May be requested to satisfy additional requirements.

    At least 1 semester (other than the summer course) elapsed since the dismissal.

    For applicants who were placed under the following status Academic Dismissal

    Return with a fresh record where all courses and grades earned prior to the student’s readmission remain on the student’s QU transcript but are not counted towards degree requirements and are not considered in the cumulative records of student including in the calculation of the student’s cumulative grade point average (GPA), except for the courses approved under the transfer of credit rules.

    Students may apply for the transfer of credits for courses completed at or outside QU (completed within the 5 years prior to the semester of readmission, a minimum grade of C, and a maximum of 50% of credit hours required to complete the degree).

    May be requested to satisfy additional requirements.

    At least 1 semester elapsed since the dismissal.

    Required Documents Checklist

    Applicants seeking readmission are required to apply to their intended college of study by filling the QU online admission application and submit the following admission requirements by admission deadlines.

    1. Submit an Online Admissions Application with an e-payment of QR 200 (non-refundable)
    2. Students have to upload a passport size photograph and a copy of the applicant's valid Qatari ID card (Non-Qatari applicants must also upload a copy of their passport) through the online admission application by the admission deadline.
    3. High school or University transcript:
      • For students from who had graduated from Qatari government or independent schools starting from the year 2016 onwards; they do not have to submit their high school transcript and QU will receive their results from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
      • Students from Private and International high schools, also students from Qatari Government and independent schools graduated in 2015 and earlier, have to submit the original final official and certified high school transcript along with copies to check if it matches the original documents, and attend in person to Qatar University before the deadline
      • University Students have to submit their original final official and certified University transcript along with copies to check if it matches the original documents, and attend in person to Qatar University before the deadline by the following timing and locations:
        • Male: Student Affairs Building (I11) - First Floor, hall number C204, from Sunday to Thursday, 9 am to 12 pm.
        • Female: Student Affairs Building (I11) - First Floor, hall number C250, from Sunday to Thursday, 9 am to 12 pm.
    4. Non-Qatari applicants of a Qatari parent must upload a copy of the applicant's parent Qatar ID card and a copy of the applicant’s birth certificate and Non Qatari female students married to Qatari nationals must also upload a copy of the marriage contract and a copy of the Qatari ID of the husband ( An electronic link will be sent to applicants to upload required documents for Qatari parents and Qatari Husband)
    5. Students have to submit Health Certificate issued inside Qatar (with a validity period that must not exceed six months from the date of examination)
      • Students who have undergone a medical examination in any of the health centers operated by the Primary Health Care Corporation or the Medical Commission are not required to submit their medical examination results. QU will receive these results from the Ministry of Public Health directly.
      • Students who have undergone a medical examination in any private health care center located in Qatar, kindly contact Admission Section.

    6. Official test score (example TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT) reports for applicants to Colleges that require Foundation Program ( if available) to be submitted to the Qatar University Testing Center in order to be exempted from the Foundation Program.
    7. International students who do not hold a valid State of Qatar residence permit (excluding GCC citizens) are not eligible for QU admission consideration. It is crucial that international student who is interested to enroll at QU to have a valid Qatari residence permit. Qatar University Scholarships and International Admissions Section  assists students to get a student visa (Qatar Residence Permit). Those students who are interested should Apply Online for the student visa and upload the Required Documents during the same timeline of QU admission. Applicants who fail to satisfy the requirements for a student visa will not be considered for admission at Qatar University.
