    • Emerging technologies, data protection, and cross-border implications in EU and GCC: Data Protection and Privacy of Citizens and Organisations (PDF) 2022

    This research book is designed to cover cutting-edge legal issues resulting from emerging technologies in the inherent use of data with cross-border regulatory implications between EU countries and GCC countries. There are many intersections and cross-border legal issues resulting from planned or actual regulations and obligations between EU and GCC countries that will be explored. Various topics are proposed in the following themes relevant to both regions related to Data Protection and Privacy of Citizens and Organisations. 

    • Call for papers: Artificial Intelligence and the Rule of Law: A Focus on SDG 16 (PDF)

    Peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable societies are dependent upon effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels, as well as citizens having access to justice to protect their rights. The goals of the rule of law and Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG16) are intertwined, both seeking to promote the provision of access to justice for all and building effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions. 

    • Call of Papers: Convergence or Competition? Assessing BRI Transnational Legal Impact in the MENA Region (PDF)

    China has been working with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) nations to ensure its growing strategic interests in the region. The Chinese approach to the Arab world has gained further importance by establishing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Through the BRI, China is seeking to establish long-term cooperation with most MENA nations while looking to shape its image as a responsible global power through shared governance values. In 2004, a China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF) was created for ensuring multilateral cooperation. Since then, plenty of joint conferences and meetings were held between the parties to consolidate a “Sino-Arab future-oriented strategic partnership of comprehensive cooperation and common development”. China recently issued its Arab Policy Paper in which Beijing clearly stated the pillars of cooperation between China and the Arab nations. This Policy Paper provides a concrete overview of the policy priorities of the Chinese government in its engagement with MENA nations​
