    Academic Advising is known as the life key for the success in university through holding consultation sessions between the student and academic adviser to discuss educational plans and to determine the best to ensure the academic success for the student as well as to determine the necessary steps to achieve the personal, academic and professional goals according to their abilities, capabilities and inclinations personal.

    Academic Advising Office of the College of Arts and Sciences seeks to provide students with various information and skills that will work to facilitate the academic process for students through guidance to explore appropriate study plans, the steps of registration, important appointments and help them to adapt to the university environment. Also it provides academic skills to increase the level of education and to face the challenges during their academic career. In addition, it encourages them to engage in various activities and events, which lead to highlight diverse skills and abilities.

    Who is my academic advisor?

    1. Login to the myQU portal
    2. Click on "myAcademics" tab
    3. You will see your advisor's name on the left-side of the screen.

    If you want to call your advisor or to know his/her office location, please see all academic advisors' contact infomrmation.

    How to book an appointment with your academic advisor?

    Making appointment with academic advisors becomes more easy and simple. Visit the Appointment Manager  website and book an appointment in the available time slots.

    Advisor Responsibilities

    (What you should expect from your advisor)

    • Know advisees and contact new advisees early in the semester;
    • Be accessible via phone, email, and by appointment and respond to students in a timely manner;
    • Be knowledgeable about academic programs and graduation requirements and effectively communicate them to students;
    • Advise students in course selections and development of academic plans;
    • Monitor advisees’ academic progress and assist them in planning their programs to achieve their academic and life goals;
    • Encourage advisees to meet with their advisors before problems arise;
    • Refer students to the appropriate campus resources;
    • Maintain confidentiality.

    Student Responsibilities

    (What we expect of you)

    • Visit your academic advisor at least twice a semester;
    • Be prepared for the advising sessions by researching degree requirements, pre/co-requisites, classes to take, questions to ask, and topics to discuss;
    • Participate and attend academic advising activities and events;
    • Be actively in contact with your advisor via phone , email, and text message;
    • Be aware of the academic policies, important dates, deadlines and QU policies and procedures. In addition, be aware of QU resources;
    •  Accept responsibility for your decisions and academic actions.

    Registration tips:

    • Plan your course selection in advance before the start of the early registration period.
    • Be sure that you have passed the prerequisites for your desired subjects.
    • Be aware that some courses are offered only in Fall and some are offered only in Spring.
    • Be aware that summer registration is optional, and the class offerings change from year to year.
    • Be flexible, choose alternative courses or sections when possible as some sections fill up quickly.
    • Visit your Academic Advisor to check that your choices fit into your study plan, and follow its language of instruction.
    • If you face any problems or errors in the registration process. please contact your Academic Advisor.
