    Mission Statement for the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DDM) Program


    Our mission is to nurture highly skilled, world class graduates who excel in delivering evidence-based clinical and preventive oral care. We are committed to preparing our students to serve communities with compassion, uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics, and lead the future of the dental profession through continuous learning, research, and innovation.

    Program Description

    The DDM (Doctor of Dental Medicine) program follows an integrated, competency-based, and patient-centered curriculum. Problem-based learning curriculum is designed to facilitate horizontal and vertical integration between biomedical sciences and clinical dental subjects throughout the program. Structured training is provided in pre-clinical dental simulation laboratory settings before students develop and consolidate their skills in clinical settings. The DDM program is based on 190 credit hours and delivered over six years. Graduates will be eligible to obtain a License to practice Dentistry in the State of Qatar without the need for an additional internship year.

    Program Learning Outcomes

    The Program learning outcomes (PLOs) for the DDM (Doctor of Dental Medicine) program are underpinned by contemporary standards of clinical education. The PLOs are based on six domains each with specific learning outcomes that students must demonstrate before graduation. The six domains are as follows:

    1. Scientific Knowledge:

    Demonstrate applied biomedical and scientific knowledge which underpins clinical dental practice

    2. Disease Prevention and Population Health

    Demonstrate knowledge and skills to prevention of oral and dental disease and promote the oral and systemic health of patients and public at large.

    3. Clinical Skills:

    . Demonstrate clinical skills to provide safe and effective dental care in a holistic manner.

    4. Evidence-based Practice

    Demonstrate an evidence-based approach to dental practice clinical decision- making to deliver the most appropriate care to patients.

    5. Communication Skills

    Demonstrate skills in communicating with patients, their caregivers, and healthcare colleagues in a clear, effective, and sensitive manner.

    6. Professionalism



    Demonstrate highest standards of professionalism to protect the best interests of patients consistently and comply with legal requirements and ethical guidelines.
