Phase I: Preliminary proposal [academic planning phase] - Initiation & Departmental Review: A new program is proposed using the approved University template and is first reviewed by the respective department/program committee, providing feedback and guidance. With the department head's approval, it progresses to the College Dean. - College Dean's Review: The College Dean initiates a further review by the relevant college curriculum committee/academic council. Upon their approval, the proposal moves to the Academic Quality Department (AQD). - AQD and APTF Evaluation: The AQD scrutinizes the proposal then forwards it to the University’s Academic Planning Task Force (APTF). The APTF evaluates it within the academic planning framework, making recommendations to the Academic Council and the Executive Management Committee. If approved, the proposer is instructed to prepare a comprehensive proposal within a specified timeframe.
Phase II: Comprehensive proposal - Detailed Development: The comprehensive proposal is developed using the appropriate form and undergoes an in-depth review at the department and college levels. - College Council and QU Health Review: Post-college approval, the QU Health Curriculum Enhancement Committee evaluates the proposal, potentially requesting revisions. - External Review: The AQD sends the proposal to external subject specialists for review, incorporating their feedback. Note: For graduate programs, concurrent review by the graduate committee is required. - Final Approval Stages: The Academic Council reviews the proposal, followed by the Executive Management Committee. If recommended, the proposal reaches the President, who then presents it to the Board of Regents. - Board of Regents Decision: The Board of Regents makes the final decision on the adoption of the program, with the outcome communicated back to the College Dean and the relevant department head.
