Advanced General Legal Knowledge Exam is an admission exam for applicants who wish to join the Ph.D. program in law (public law, private law, and international law in English). It is organized in collaboration between the college of law and the Testing Centre at Qatar University. It aims to create equal opportunities for all applicants.
Objectives of the Exam:
- To measure the applicant's knowledge of basic legal doctrines.
- To measure the applicant's knowledge of Qatari law.
- To measure the applicant’s skills to understand, analyze and link the laws together.
Exam Topics
The exam will focus on a general topic, which is legal liability, it includes:
- Civil Liability
- Criminal Liability
- Disciplinary Liability
Preparation for the Exam:
Applicants shall conduct the required readings within the topics of the exam.

To be announced by the office of graduate studies at the College of Law in every cycle of admission.

Eligibility for Personal Interview
- Passing the admission exam by scoring 50% or above
- Passing the other evaluation criteria (GPA, Practical experience, publications, research proposal, proficiency in a foreign language, and university of graduation)
- The applicant shall reach the required score after combining the result of the admission exam with the outcome of the other evaluation criteria.
- Reaching the personal interview stage is not considered admission to the program.
General Rules
- The exam is held once a year for admission in the fall semester.
- The result of the exam is not valid for use in subsequent years.
