Research at QU Health is theme-based and interdisciplinary, allowing researchers with similar focuses to collaborate across the boundaries of QU Health colleges. In line with the National Research Priorities and QU Strategic goals, current research themes include Metabolic Disorders and Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, Cancer, Neurological disorders, Mental Health, Infectious and Respiratory Diseases. Additionally, QU Health research teams include Chronic Pain, Oral Health, Health Professions Education, Youth Wellbeing, Precision Medicine, and Reproductive medicine. Researchers from all QU Health colleges and research centers form flexible and collaborative teams based on shared interests and projects.
Researchers at QU Health benefit from the strong support of a consolidated, synchronized, service-oriented organization for research and graduate studies. This organization efficiently coordinates between colleges, research centres, and collaborative national, regional, and international institutions.
Researchers at QU Health will benefit from the strong support of a consolidated, synchronized, service-oriented organization for research and graduate studies, that efficiently coordinates between the colleges, research centers, and collaborative institutions at the national, regional and international levels.
The QU Health research strategy promotes interdisciplinary research to optimize resource utilization, maximize research and education output, and build on academic success. QU Health Research emphasizes the added value of integration in terms of productivity, quality, impact, innovation, capacity building, and excellence.
The QU Health research goals are:
- To produce high-quality research addressing national and global research priorities.
- To promote impactful and sustainable research addressing local and regional challenges.
- To encourage innovative research with commercialization potential.
- To provide effective and efficient research environment and professional training to researchers.
- To promote research excellence in precision medicine, with a focus on translating research findings into clinical practice.
Physically integrated QU Health laboratories offer a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment where researchers from QU Health colleges with shared thematic interests can work together to tackle complex research questions. This type of setting fosters a sense of community and encourages open communication and exchange of ideas while providing access to cutting-edge technology and equipment.
QU Health laboratories contain multiple core units operated by experienced researchers serving the QU Health researchers, including an Imaging core facility, Proteomic core facility, Flow Cytometry core facility, Pathology core facility, Analytical core facility, and Animal Model Platforms. QU Health researchers have access to other QU research centers and central university services, such as the Laboratory Animal Research Center.
QU Health Research has played a crucial role in tackling global health challenges. Building upon the prior achievements of the QU Health research community, substantial strides have been made in enhancing the quality and impact of health research output. As a result, QU has played a pivotal role in enhancing health outcomes and addressing national and global challenges.
