The Legal Skills Department was first established at Qatar University College of Law in the spring semester 2018 incorporating the legal writing program, the externship program, moot court, the law clinic, and the legal labs. It is the first and only department devoted to practical and experiential legal education in the Arab world.
The Legal Skills Department is dedicated to developing practice-ready lawyers in Qatar and beyond. Our distinguished faculty are devoted to enhancing students' practical skills through a number of mandatory and elective courses, including: Legal Skills and Methodology, our pioneering Law Clinic, our award-winning Moot Court teams, our groundbreaking Externship Program, and Principles of Legal Research. These courses are taught in both English and Arabic.
Additionally, experiential learning components are integrated into our traditional law school offerings through separate labs designed to allow students to put theory into practice. Labs are required for six courses: Introduction to Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Proceedings, Commercial Law, Civil Procedure, and Contracts.
