Engaged around 40 graduate students

The Office of Graduate Studies organized the first discussion forum for graduate students on April 23.

The forum aimed to provide graduate students with the opportunity to express their opinion, experience and suggestions in research and graduate studies. It engaged around 40 graduate students across QU colleges.

Discussions focused on graduate assistantship, thesis supervision, course registration, and research funding and publication.

Attending the forum were QU VP for Research and Graduate Studies Prof Mariam Al-Maadeed, Dean of Graduate Studies Dr Ahmed Elzatahry, Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies for Student Affairs Ms Ghada Saif A S Al-Kuwari, Senior Program Development and Coordination Specialist Dr Mary Newsome, and Senior Graduate Faculty Support Specialist Dr Sandy Youssef Rahme.

Prof Mariam Al-Maadeed noted that the forum is an interactive platform between graduate students and QU administration to identify the challenges faced by the students during their journey. She said: “We are trying to find solutions that help to attract students to register in graduate programs and seek achievement and innovation in various areas, which reflect our future.”

QU Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Ms Ghada Saif A S Al-Kuwari said: “The establishment of this forum is an opportunity to remove the barriers between the administrative and teaching staff and among the students, which increases the intellectual convergence and pushes the work forward.”
