The College of Law at Qatar University (QU) organized a discussion session on the legal aspects of the 2024 U.S. elections. The discussants primarily highlighted the electoral college of the U.S. presidency, the electoral system of the House of Representatives, and the Senate. The discussion session also dealt with the potential effects of the candidates' policies on financial and economic laws, proposed tax policies, immigration law, freedom of expression, and the right to vote. Additionally, the session explored the dimensions of candidates' positions on the war on Gaza and the compatibility of proposed foreign policies with international law.

The College of Law faculty members at QU participated in the discussion session. Dr. Rafael Brown, Assistant Professor at QU College of Law, moderated the session and provided an overview of the U.S. legal system. The panel featured Dr. Charles Michael Schnurman, Clinical Lecturer at QU College of Law, and Dr. Aaron Harmon Clinical, Assistant Professor of Law at QU, who discussed the implications of candidates' policies and positions under federal and state laws. Concluding the session, Prof. Mohamed Mattar, Professor of Law at QU, addressed legal issues that resonate with Arab-American communities.

This initiative reflects the College of Law's commitment to keeping pace with contemporary issues by examining the associated legal challenges.
