The Public Health Department at the College of Health Sciences, Qatar University (QU), held discussions on a number of Undergraduate capstone presentations for Fall 2024. This event showcased the innovative research and findings presented by final-year students in the Public Health program as they shared their graduation projects with peers, faculty members, and the academic community.

The presentations highlighted two groundbreaking projects conducted under the guidance of esteemed faculty members. The first group consisted of Maryam Al-Mislmani, Maha Al-Naimi, Khadiga ElSayed, and Maryam Al-Dali. This group investigated; under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Al Hamdani; the effect of plain packaging and tobacco use status on perceptions and warning recognition through a cross-sectional study. The second group; who was supervised by Dr. Dima Arafah; consisted of Hamda Al-Thani, Maryam Fakhroo, and Shahad Al-Shammari. This group applied the theory of planned behavior to explore the intention of health sector students at QU to participate in emergency preparedness and response training. These projects tackled critical public health challenges, from advancing tobacco control strategies to enhancing emergency preparedness among future healthcare professionals.
