Qatar University (QU) Alumni Association, in collaboration with the Sports Affairs Department, organized QU's annual race for 2025 (QU Run) in an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and challenge. The event witnessed wide participation from various age groups, reaffirming the university's commitment to promoting a culture of sports and physical health in the community.
This year's race featured three main stages, allowing participants of different levels to take part and enjoy the competitive atmosphere. The juniors' race attracted young talents, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities in an inspiring competitive environment. The 3-kilometer race was the ideal choice for moderate running enthusiasts and those looking to test their physical endurance in an exciting experience. Meanwhile, the 5-kilometer race posed the biggest challenge for participants, testing their strength and endurance and adding more excitement to the event.
QU Run drew significant attendance from students, faculty members, QU alumni, and the sports community. It was not just a competition but a community event that strengthened bonds among participants and reflected the spirit of challenge and perseverance. Spectators actively engaged in the event, cheering on the runners and celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and fair competition.
Speaking about the event, Senaid Al-Marri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at QU, stated, “The QU Run is an annual event, and this year it was held in a completely different manner, attracting a large number of participants. Many children of QU employees participated, as well as a significant number from the wider community. This aligns with our goal in the Sports Affairs Department to promote sports culture both within and beyond the university. The event was organized in collaboration with the QU Alumni Association to spread sports awareness in the community at large and the university community in particular."
On the other hand, Mr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Mohannadi, Director of Outreach and Engagement, and Chief Executive Officer of the QU Alumni Association, commented, “QU's Run is one of the distinguished sports events organized by the Alumni Association. It reflects the university's commitment to encouraging students, alumni, and the community to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. The event was excellently organized, ensuring a fun and safe competitive environment. A total of 310 participants, including students, alumni, faculty members, and university employees, took part in the race. The addition of the juniors' category aims to encourage the younger generation to engage in sports from an early age, fostering a culture of fitness and healthy competition. It is essential to tailor the event to their physical capabilities while ensuring safety and motivation for a positive experience."
He concluded by encouraging students to participate in upcoming sports events, stating, “Sports are not just about competition; they are a way of life that provides energy, health, and focus. Take advantage of the opportunity to join the sports activities organized by QU, whether you are a professional or an amateur—everyone is welcome! QU offers you a great platform to connect, challenge yourself, and enjoy the team spirit. Be part of the sports movement and enjoy the experience."
At the conclusion of the event, winners of the 3-kilometer and 5-kilometer races were honored in recognition of their outstanding performances and perseverance throughout the competition, reflecting the university's dedication to supporting and encouraging athletes to achieve excellence.
QU continues its mission to promote sports and encourage the community to adopt an active lifestyle. As the curtain falls on the 2025 race, attention now turns to future editions, which are expected to introduce further developments and exciting challenges for participants.
