Qatar University Young Scientists Center (QU-YSC) is holding the Summer Research Internship Program 2022 from 22 May till 23 June 2022. The program is organized this year, with the primary objective of bolstering research competencies in graduate and undergraduate students of all the colleges at Qatar University (QU).

After the 2-year online internship program, this year will witness students being able to attend the on-campus internship program according to the guidelines set forward by the Ministry of Public Health. The students’ registration will begin on 27 April 2022 and will close on 12 May 2022. The Research Internship Program 2022 will also witness the launch of an outcomes-directed intensive research program, which is aimed at attaining scholarly outcomes in the end. This program will also focus on the introduction of a novel approach to integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) based on multi-disciplinary research from all the centers and colleges. The program will cover a broad range of courses and topics offered by ten research centers and different colleges at Qatar University.

Qatar University Young Scientists Center (QUYSC), under the direction of the Office of VP for Research and Graduate Studies, will carry out its plan to organize the program in the summer of 2022 thereby enhancing research culture among the undergraduate and graduate students. This program will forefront in reaching the milestone in the transformational plan of Qatar University, as a step forward for promoting research potential among the young generation, leading to accomplishing a knowledge-based society in Qatar.

To broaden the mission of expanding the outreach efforts by the university, the program will be open to all University students. The Vice President for Research & Graduate Studies, Prof. Mariam Al-Maadeed said, “Qatar is keenly looking forward to the accomplishments of the young generation, capable of transforming our economy and enriching our society. Besides, as we believe that QU has an important role to play in empowering them to reach the highest in their potential, we forge innovative approaches to maximize the student learning outcomes for a distinguished generation”.

Prof. Noora Jabor Al-Thani, Director of Qatar University Young Scientists Center (QUYSC) expressed the importance of the Summer Research Internship Program 2022, and stated that “This internship program subjects students to real-world research projects, equipping them with strategic tools required to oblige the national development needs of Qatar. The innovative outcome-directed approach adopted in this year’s program combines specialized knowledge with dynamic and cross-sectional capabilities thereby empowering the QU youth at par with the international institutions”.
