The organizing committee of the global Reimagine Education Conference and Awards announced Qatar University’s (QU) Al-Bairaq program as one of the nominated projects to win in the Cultivating Curiosity category.

Al-Bairaq is a non-traditional educational project, in which students at Qatari secondary schools work in teams with highly exquisite university-level scientists on practical scientific problems in authentic contexts.

Reimagine Education is a global conference and competition open to all who aspire to change education. The awards program is a partnership between QS Quacquarelli Symonds and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Al-Bairaq has achieved great success in this competition in past years, winning three consecutive years in the Presence Learning and Cultivating Curiosity categories.

The conference will be held starting 8 December 2019 at Imperial College London and the Queen Elizabeth II Center in the United Kingdom. Al-Bairaq is invited by the organizers to attend the conference and to present on its unique history.

The presentation will include Al-Bairaq's methodology, which focuses on stimulating curiosity and learning through practical experience. The most important methods are STEAM Learning, which provides an integrated curriculum of education including science, technology, engineering, art, math and Inquiry Based Learning in which students learn by asking questions and solving problems instead of listing or reciting facts and knowledge.

President of Al-Bairaq Program and Head of Communication and Outreach at QU, Dr. Noora Jabor Al-Thani, expressed her happiness at participating in this prestigious conference and awards ceremony for the fourth consecutive year. She commented saying competitions such as this one are a great motivator for educational programs and initiatives to develop themselves further. It is also an opportunity to introduce the program on a global platform and share the latest educational methods that Al-Bairaq utilizes.
