The press conference took place yesterday in the presence of Dr. Darwish Al-Emadi, QU’s Chief Strategy & Development Officer; Mohamed Al-Mohannadi, Director of Outreach and Engagement; and Ali Alhoori and Mohamad Hakim, Alumni Relations Specialists in QU.

The conferences purpose was to announce the 2018 Reunion Ceremony, which will take place on 27 November 2018 in the new Sports and Events Complex, and is under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Honorary President of the QU Alumni Association, for the second consecutive year.

Mohammed Saeed Al Mohannadi, spoke at the press conference saying that QU has been organizing this event for ten years through the Alumni Relations Office, which was established in 2007. Currently, the University sponsors the ceremony alongside the QU Alumni Association, which was established in 2012.

This reunion is considered QU’s second biggest event of each year, coming second only to the annual Graduation Ceremony. The reunion is a great opportunity for QU to enhance its communication with graduates and to create a sense of loyalty and affiliation with them. The meetup also strengthens the continuity of bonding between all parties including among university officials, in the spirit of cooperation.

The ceremony also provides an opportunity for graduates to learn about the role and objectives of the QU Alumni Association and contribute by engaging in the activities and events organized by all branches of the association, as well as encouraging graduates to take part in serving the university and community.

Dr. Darwish Al Emadi explained the aim of the ceremony, which is to reconnect the graduate with its alma mater, representing a link between their rich past and bright future. It is also a testament to QU’s overall task, to prepare students for their ultimate role in serving their homeland.

Ali Alhoori said the ceremony will include many activities and events, such as honoring distinguished graduates, and will host spaces dedicated to the different colleges and research centers, as well as a space dedicated to advocating the projects of graduates and showcase the best of their innovations. It will also feature an area dedicated for children, with various activities for them.

Mohamad Hakim said the ceremony is honor of the graduates between the years 1990 and 1999. It is a yearly undertaking by the University to promote the spirit of cohesion and cooperation. Mohamad hopes that the graduates will be happy and impressed with the event, and hopes it will become a basis for new communication between QU and its alumni.
