Clinical Research
Clinical researchers and biomedical scientists will be working closely with colleagues across health programs at QU (pharmacy, biomedical, nutrition) and with researchers from partners within the HMC Academic Health System to combine basic research excellence with innovations in clinical practice to improve patient care. Our objective is to shift to translational medicine in addressing major diseases especially those of particular relevance to Qatar and the region such as diabetes, cancer, inflammatory diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases.
Molecular Medicine
The overarching objective of molecular medicine research at CMED is to combine basic research excellence with innovations in clinical practice to improve patient care. Our objective is to shift to translational medicine in addressing major diseases such as diabetes, cancer, inflammatory diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases. Our ability to deliver on this objective has been the result of collaborations between members of the College working closely with the Academic Health System at Hamad Medical Corporation, to assess what delivers a world-class molecular medicine research.
Our focus on cancer and pathology research is enhanced by the presence of 4 PIs among our faculty recognized for their contributions to cancer research including tens of publications in high-index journals and leadership of regional organizations for cancer research.
Public Health
Our Public Health Research strengths unite around 5 major inter-disciplinary themes: Epidemiological studies on chronic diseases; health promotion and healthy lifestyle, healthcare delivery systems, evidence based healthcare, health informatics. Guided by our strategy to develop and apply the best available methods to address major national and regional health and healthcare challenges, we combine these strengths with a network of national collaborators with health policy makers such as the Supreme Council for Health. This is also further enhanced internationally through partnerships with Maastricht University, Groningen University, Johns Hopkins Medicine and others.

Medical Education
In Medical Education, our research strengths are in developing and measuring professional competence, ethics and professionalism, and the use of technology to enhance learning and teaching especially simulation technology in medical education. We aim to become a regional center of excellence for research that aims to improve medical education and training, while creating a network of strategic alliances to support curriculum development, and the establishment of new leadership and faculty development training centers across the GCC in partnership with leading international organizations like the WHO and the US National Board of Medical Examiners.
