    Doctor of Medicine admission (MD)

    Admission to College of Medicine

    All applicants to Qatar University College of Medicine must complete 12 years of formal education and their transcript results must be certified by the appropriate educational agency. The following high school grade requirements mentioned in this section are minimum scores, they do not guarantee admission, and they may change according to the strength of the applicant pool and the available capacity in the College of Medicine. Only complete applications will be considered by the Admissions Committee as acceptance is a highly competitive process and limited.

    All applicants are classified as First Year General Medicine applicants (There is no Foundation program for the college) and are required to submit the following:

    • A high school GPA of 85% with a Science Track is required.









    • English: IELTS =6 or TOEFL 520 or IBT = 68.
    • Mathematics: SAT 500 or NEW SAT 530 or ACT 21 or QU Math Placer 200.

    • English and Mathematics test scores must be submitted to the Qatar University Testing Center before the application process begins. Late submission of grades will affect assessment of the application.
    • For international schools, letter grades will be equalized to a percentage by the Qatar University Admissions Department. Please refer to Qatar University Admissions Department for more information.

    • Students can apply by logging in to Qatar University website and filling the Admissions Application Form.

    Transfer Admission Criteria

    If you are considering transferring to College of Medicine, you must complete ALL the first mentioned set of requirements mentioned above needed by the college. The Medical Student Interview Committee, which includes faculty members appointed by the Dean, will identify the top students. Applicants are invited for interview. At the completion of the interview cycle a ranked list is established by the Admissions Committee based on academic and personal qualifications.

     

    Admissions to Medicine are extraordinarily competitive and spaces are limited due to the capacity of the Collegeso the higher the academic records, the greater the chances of being accepted.

    QU Health

    • Must be students from the Colleges of Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Dental Medicine, or Nursing at the end of their first semester.
    • High school GPA of 90%
    • English: IELTS =6 or TOFEL 520 or IBT = 68  
    • Mathematics: SAT 500 or NEW SAT 530 or ACT 21 or QU Math Placer 200
    • Supporting evidence of a minimum of 25 hours of previous volunteering experience in the healthcare sector, medical or scientific internships, or community work.
    • Passing a personal interview with the College Admission Committee

    • GPA 3.9 out of 4 and above
    • Have completed a maximum of 30 credit hours and minimum of 16 Credit Hours including:
      • CHEM 101/103
      • MEDI 101
      • MEDI 102​
    • Submit required documents before the transfer deadline.​
    • All accepted applicants will join Year 1 General Medicine immediately

    Other Colleges

    • High school GPA of 90%
    • Completion of requirements similar to those:
      • English: IELTS =6 or TOEFL  520 or IBT = 68 
      • Mathematics: SAT 500 or NEW SAT 530 or ACT 21 or QU Math Placer 200
    • Have completed a maximum of 30 credit hours and minimum of 16 credit hours including: three science subjects from the major, recommended having: Chemistry 101, Biology 101,MATH 101, STAT 101
    • Supporting evidence of a minimum of 25 hours of previous volunteering experience in the healthcare sector, medical or scientific internships, or community work.

    • Passing a personal interview with the College Admission Committee.


    • GPA 3.9 out of 4 and above
    • Submit required documents before the transfer deadline.
    • All accepted applicants will join Year 1 General Medicine the following academic year.
