The College of Pharmacy accepted its first class in September 2007. In July 2008, the college applied for consideration for provisional accreditation by
the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP). CCAPP (Canada) is the sole pharmacy program accreditation agency in Canada. Provisional accreditation status is the highest level of recognition that this agency can award to new programs in the formative stage of development. In January 2009, CCAPP informed Qatar University that the institution had been awarded the status of Provisional Accreditation for the 2-year term January 2009 – December 2011.
The program sought Full Accreditation status in December 2011, following the graduation of the first BSc (Pharm) class in June 2011 and the enrollment of the first students in the final year of the 6-year Doctor of Pharmacy program.
Qatar University College of Pharmacy has been awarded the status of Full Accreditation for its Bachelor of Science program in Pharmacy for the six year term 2012 - 2018.
Qatar University College of Pharmacy has been awarded the status of Full Accreditation for its Doctor of Pharmacy program in Pharmacy for the four year term January 2014 - December 2018.
The College of Pharmacy at Qatar University is the first international program to be awarded full accreditation status by CCAPP (Canada).
Based on the CCAPP Board meeting held in June 2018, the College of Pharmacy, Qatar University is granted the maximum period (5 years) for renewal of accreditation for both the BSc and PharmD programs (2018-2023). Both programs have successfully achieved CCAPP accreditation renewal for the period of 2023-2028.
