The Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education program is offered by the College of Education in response to the current educational needs, which include shortages in qualified teachers for the secondary and preparatory Government Schools. No institution in Qatar other than Qatar University currently provides an undergraduate degree in secondary education.
This program is offered for both male and female students who seek to join the teaching profession.
All the Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education has eight concentrations all of which are benchmarked to Qatar National Professional Standards for Teachers and School Leaders. The Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education – English language is aligned with the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) standards. The Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education – Social Studies program is aligned with the standards of National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS). The Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education – Math is aligned with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
The Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education – English language received National Recognition from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) in 2017.
