In the last 50 years, the Student Affairs profession grew immensely in the USA, while in the last decade remarkable growth has been observed in the fields of Student Affairs in the MENA region, especially in higher education institutions in the Arabian Gulf.
The Student Affairs Sector at Qatar University (QU) enhances the QU student experience by supporting the educational mission of the University by providing quality programs and efficient services that facilitate the transition and integration of students into university life and experiences. The 400+ student affairs practitioners are professionals who are dedicated and adaptable to various conditions to meet their goals in providing the best services to more than 28000 students irrespective of their socio-cultural backgrounds, gender, and religion, level of study, nationalities, age, and disability.
Our staff care to assist our students in various aspects with a focus on four holistic development: emotional, spiritual, cognitive, and physical development. The majority of our student affairs practitioners are involved with Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA), College Student Educators International (ACPA), or the leading professional organizations in the field of student affairs to stay up-to-date and enhance their professional development with the continually dynamic changing environment we are living in. Student success is a collaborative effort at QU among various practitioners and departments with academic and non-academic nature of specialization. The academic areas of student affairs include academic advising, academic support, and career development. The non-academic areas include financial aid, textbooks, activities, volunteerism, athletics, recruitment, and outreach.
