This is a four-and-a-half-year program leading to a BSc degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, specifically the Foreign Dietitian Education Program (FDE), accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The program features Student-Identified Supervised Practice/Experiential Learning. It includes a minimum of 1100 hours of supervised practice across affiliated medical facilities, community nutrition settings, and governmental institutions. The curriculum aligns with the knowledge, skills, and core competencies defined by ACEND for graduating entry-level dietitians.
The supervised practice aspect comprises three primary rotations: Medical Nutrition Therapy (20 weeks), Food Service Management (4 weeks), and Community Nutrition (8 weeks). Students are placed in various affiliated facilities, such as Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Qatar Foundation, Qatar Diabetes Association, and ASPETAR. Typically, the practicum experience begins in January and concludes in December.
Integrated within the didactic program, the practicum experience starts during the final year and spans two semesters (Spring and Fall).
