    Sciences and Applied Sciences


    The Sciences and Applied Sciences Cluster is affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. The cluster reviews, follows up and approves the operational procedures for teaching, academic programs, scientific research, community service and faculty members. The cluster offers a range of academic programs at different levels.

    In addition, the cluster oversees the Research Center for Sustainable Development.

    1. The cluster supervises several academic departments that offer Bachelor’s programs, namely:

      • Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences: A Chemistry major is offered for both female and male students. While the Chemistry minor is open for male and female students, the Earth Sciences minor is offered for male students only.
      • Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences: It has two major programs; a BSc in Biological Sciences offered only for female students, and a BSc in Environmental Sciences with two concentrations,Marine Sciences and Biotechnology that is offered for both female and male students.
      • Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics: It has two major programs; a BSc in Mathematics offered for females only, and a BSc in Statistics that is offered for both female and male students.
      • The cluster offers three Master of Science programs, namely:

        • MSc in Environmental Sciences.
        • MSc in Applied Statistics.
        • MSc in Materials Science and Technology.
      • The cluster also offers three Graduate Certificate programs namely:

        • Graduate Certificate in Environmental Sciences.
        • Graduate Certificate in Corrosion.
        • Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics.
      • At the Doctoral level
        • The cluster offers a PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences.
