Welcome to the History Program at Qatar University
We currently have more than thirty faculty members with teaching and research expertise covering the breadth of the discipline. Our mission is to cultivate students’ awareness of the historical causes that shape our present, and to provide them the necessary skills to identify and scrutinize the disparity between historical myths and realities. Our introductory and advanced courses, offered within a liberal education framework, emphasize critical analysis and reasoning, as well as written and oral communication skills that will prepare students to enter a variety of careers such as journalism, education, museum work, business, politics and public service, or to pursue graduate studies.
Students in the program can choose between three focus areas: History of the Gulf, Islamic History, and History of Europe. This diversity offers a unique range of opportunities, in line with the program’s primary educational objective, to provide high quality undergraduate education to QU students.
Students in our program are equipped with valuable knowledge, as well as with technical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, research, communication, and teamwork skills. This will empower them for their future careers in the educational and industrial sectors.
