    Mission

    The mission of the Psychology Program is to provide students with high quality education by engaging them in inquiry-driven learning and by developing their critical thinking, effective communication, and consensus building skills. The program prepares students to lead successful careers in Psychology including careers in teaching, research and clinical services and enables them to pursue their studies beyond the baccalaureate degree.

    Objectives

    The Psychology Program will prepare students to:

    1. Develop student fundamental knowledge and comprehension of the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, historical trends, and empirical findings in psychology and develop a working knowledge of psychology’s content domains.
    2. Develop and use scientific reasoning, creative thinking and problem-solving, including effective research methods.
    3. Develop understanding of the major ethical issues associated with psychological research, professional behavior and practice.
    4. Develop professional lexicon, competence in writing and in oral communication skills.
    5. Promote application of psychological content and skills, reflective practice, teamwork, and career preparation. 


    Learning Outcomes

    1. Student will be able to explain the primary objectives of psychology and key characteristics of its major content domains.
    2. Student will be able to apply psychological concepts to explain behavior and mental processes.
    3. Student will be able to use effective research methodology to solve problems.
    4. Students will develop working knowledge of psychological intervention methods and therapeutic techniques.
    5. Student will be able to apply professional ethical standards to evaluate psychological science and practice.
    6. Students will be able to write scientific arguments and present information orally using scientific and psychological concepts.

    Admission

    Applicants must satisfy QU defined College and Program requirements including the minimum high school percentage requirement.

    Opportunities

    The psychology program prepares students to complete graduate studies in psychology, participate in psychological and social research, and work in different careers related to psychological assistance, psychological measurement, recruiting and training in different labor fields and institutions. They can also graduate from the program of psychology to provide assistance for both the family, the child, the adolescent, the elderly couples, and groups in different settings.. This and many other jobs in psychiatric hospitals, prevention and intervention in the field of health, addiction, sports, mass media, education, and in all associations, institutions, and profit organizations.
