    In Fall 2020 we introduced one Multidisciplinary Senior Design Project under the title "Clots Detection Device", Please find below the abstract and the team members of this project.

    Abstract:

    Millions of people are getting stroke every day. These strokes are being caused because of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Getting a stroke is causing a serious side effects. Some people can get paraplegia or lose their speech ability or they get blind, but these side effects comes when the stroke are being late detected and the stroke was not treated early. We are thinking of putting a sensor in a suitable place in the patient body. And when the blood flowing is not natural it will detect that there is a problem and send a signal to the nearest hospital that this specific patient is having a unusual case and he may have a stroke, so they can perform the medical procedure before it is too late. Also, the DVT detection device will pump out Aspirin when blood clots.

    In Fall 2018 we introduced one Multidisciplinary Senior Design Project under the title "Design of a Hybrid Solar-Wind Water Pump", Please find below the abstract and the team members of this project.

    Abstract:

    Qatar is one of the countries in the region that is seriously considering the application of renewable energy in strategic sectors such as energy and food, as part of its National Development Strategy 2011-2016. Water pumping and crop irrigation are some of the important applications of renewable energy, which can ensure sustainable development of agriculture and food security systems. Most of the previous applications of renewable energy in water pumping have concentrated on using solar or wind energy as separate systems of mechanical or electric power generation. However, very few have proposed a combination and integration of both in one hybrid and compact system. This project intends to design a combined and integrated hybrid solar-wind water pumping system for remote area applications. The project will investigate the combination and integration of the principles of Solar Mendocino motor and a windmill in an optimized design of a water pumping system that takes advantages of both the solar and wind energies simultaneously. An energy storage system will be also included in the design. This energy storage system will compensate for both the lack and excess of energy generated from the intermittent renewable (solar and wind) energy resources. A prototype is expected to be developed and tested in Qatar University.
