The need and value of the advisory board
The DAUP Advisory Board is a group of professionals working in local industry who meet twice annually to advise the department about curricular, professional, and research issues from the perspective of working professionals and market dynamics. The Advisory Board supports and facilitates the department in fulfilling its mission to students and industry. Members from professional, government and business communities are appointed for a three-year term. An Advisory Board member may serve up to two 3-year terms for a maximum of 6 years. The Advisory Board will help to ensure that programs continue to meet the needs of the profession.
Areas where the board members can support the department
Members advise in the areas of:
1. Academic Program Development:
- Participate in curriculum reviews
- Participate in studio critiques including senior projects
- Facilitate field trips and site visits
- Donate acquisitions to Architecture Learning Resource Center
- Presentations and lectures
2. Student Career Development:
- Facilitate internship opportunities
- Meaningful interaction with students.
- Places students with sponsors at design firms
- Perform mock interviews
- Introduce students and alumni to potential employers
3. Professional and Industry Link Development:
- Strengthen linkages with the professional community
- Ongoing public relations
Scope of involvement
The Advisory Board will meet twice annually by invitation from the Head of the Department.
