The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering offers students the possibility of further studies through its graduate programs. It offers Master of Science and Ph.D programs in several key areas. Within these two graduate programs students have the choice of distinct pathways to advance their knowledge and skills.
Master's Programs at MIE Department

The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering program is research-intensive and offers a wide range of state of the art engineering experience. This includes research in the fields of energy, thermo-fluids, materials science and engineering, automotive, aerospace, design for sustainability, alternative-energy technologies, manufacturing processes, corrosion science and prevention, computational mechanics, combustion, mechatronics, robotics, computational science and engineering, process optimization, acoustics, vibration, control and biomedical engineering.
This Engineering Management (EM) program is designed to prepare professionals for the Qatari industry at levels higher than those requiring an undergraduate degree while preparing them to do advanced research. The structure of the Engineering Management program is unique as it helps the engineers become more effective technical specialists, and strengthens their ability to lead people and projects. As a specialist, the engineer becomes more effective through understanding how his or her engineering skills can best support the goals of the organization and its customers.
Our Master of Science programs offer some flexibility aimed at preparing students for employment in key industrial sectors according to Qatar’s needs. Students with the Master’s degree can be also continue their education towards a doctoral degree in engineering.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering is highly research-intensive. Its aim is to provide students with advanced training in research that leads to the highest level of scholarly achievement, and enable them to conduct research independently to address new challenges as innovators.
Through the Ph.D program students can expect to gain competencies adding to the existing body of knowledge and be creative while being at the forefront of technology. Students are expected to gain strong theoretical and experimental foundations and to develop the ability to conduct high-end research independently.
As a Ph.D graduate you can either work in industry as leaders in your field or pursue an academic career in any University around the world.
Meet our Graduate Students
Currently, the MIE department has a large number of graduate students working in various fields. As a graduate student you have the opportunity to become a Teaching Assistant (TA) and obtain valuable teaching experience while earning a salary. For example our graduate students are in charge of some Laboratories and can offer help to our undergraduate students. Our current graduate students and always eager to give advice for fresh students about their research or graduate program experience at the MIE department.

The Department of MIE has the necessary research facilities to cater for the needs of our graduate students to carry out state of the art research.
